Value of Oncology CME

In this video, Maurie Markman, MD, president of medicine & science, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, national director of medical oncology, senior vice president for clinical affairs, Eastern Regional Medical Center, discusses the importance of oncology continuing medical education (CME). Dr. Markman says, “It is difficult to overstate the importance of continuing medical education.” The field of oncology is constantly changing and becoming more complex. Oncology CME takes new material published every day and makes it clinically relevant. Oncology CME can answer difficult questions like: ‘How can an oncologist optimally care for his or her patients?’ and ‘How can one take this vast amount of information and basically analyze it at a clinical level?’ Dr. Markman believes that bringing together experts to debate or discuss the field of oncology is highly important and needs to be substantially increased in the future.
