Community Practice Connections™: Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency—Strategies to Optimize Screening, Diagnosis, and Management

Release Date: November 16, 2021
Expiration Date: November 16, 2022

Activity Overview

Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) is one of the most common, well-understood genetic conditions. Nevertheless, it remains widely underdiagnosed due to general unawareness of the disease, complicated diagnostic algorithms, and the perception of limited treatment options available. Individuals with AATD are predisposed to diseases of the lung, liver, and skin. This Community Practice Connections™ program provides an in-depth review of key highlights from the Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency—Strategies to Optimize Screening, Diagnosis, and Management satellite symposium, held in October 2021. This unique and engaging multimedia activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the practical aspects of managing patients with AATD as it puts recent clinical trial data into clinical context. The program is designed to provide information for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce learnings for those who did attend.
