Community Practice Connections™: Exploring Current and Emerging Data Sets to Move Treatment of Higher-Risk MDS Forward: A Focus on Novel Targets and Treatment Approaches

Release Date: August 31, 2021
Expiration Date: August 31, 2022

Activity Overview

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a heterogenous group of clonal myeloid malignancies that lead to ineffective hematopoiesis, dysplasia, and peripheral cytopenias, is more likely to lead to acute myeloid leukemia in individuals deemed as having higher-risk MDS (HR-MDS). Risk assessment is a critical part of prognostication and in determining the optimal individualized treatment approach for patients. Recent approvals by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and reports from late-phase trials investigating novel formulations, agents, or combination therapies in the treatment of HR-MDS highlight an evolving standard of care.

This Community Practice Connection™ program provides an in-depth review of some of the key highlights from Exploring Current and Emerging Data Sets to Move Treatment of Higher-Risk MDS Forward: A Focus on Novel Targets and Treatment Approaches, an independent satellite symposium to the 2021 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, held June 10, 2021. This unique and engaging multi-media activity is ideal for the community-based clinician and focuses on the evolving clinical management paradigm for managing patients with HR-MDS and puts recent clinical trial data into clinical context. The program is designed for those who did not attend the live meeting and to help reinforce key concepts for those who did.
