The symposium will feature Dr. Michael A. Davies as its guest speaker

CRANBURY, N.J.--Physicians’ Education Resource®, LLC (PER®), the leading resource for oncology and hematology continuing medical education (CME), will host the 14th Annual International Symposium on Melanoma and Other Cutaneous Malignancies on Feb. 10 at the InterContinental New York Times Square.

“It’s imperative for medical professionals to be well informed about the foremost developments in diagnosing, staging and managing melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies,” said Phil Talamo, president of PER®. “By hosting this educational event and bringing top experts together, we aim to ultimately improve health outcomes for patients with melanoma.”

This highly interactive and educational event will include the feature presentation, “Variance In Response to Melanoma Treatment,” by Michael A. Davies, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor and deputy chairman of the department of melanoma medical oncology, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Davies is a physician-scientist who specializes in advanced melanoma management through treatments such as immunotherapy, targeted therapy and chemotherapy. He also leads a translational laboratory research program, which focuses on oncogenic signaling networks in cancer, and is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation as well as the co-leader of the Melanoma Moon Shot program at MD Anderson.

Throughout the symposium, which will be co-chaired by Jeffrey Weber, M.D., Ph.D., deputy director of the Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone, and Omid Hamid, M.D., director of experimental therapeutics at Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, attendees will gain insight on the latest strategies for the use of checkpoint inhibitors, current and emerging treatments for the BRAF gene as it affects mutant melanoma, and mitigating treatment-related toxicities with targeted therapy and immunotherapies. The symposium will also feature a Medical Crossfire®, a discussion in which the expert panel will address audience questions and participate in a robust debate on pressing issues faced by the skin cancer community.
