CRANBURY, N.J.--Physicians’ Education Resource® (PER®), will host the 1st Annual School of Nursing Oncology™ symposium this weekend on August 4-5, 2017 at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville. Co-chairs for the event include Grace Cherry, RN, MSN, NP, from UCLA Melanoma Program; Laura S. Wood, RN, MSN, OCN, from Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute; and Beth Eaby-Sandy, MSN, CRNP, OCN from Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center. The co-chairs and the featured faculty will present information on emerging topics in oncology that can be applied to nursing clinical practice.

The agenda was designed to combat difficulties in delivering optimal patient care and fortify the relationship between patients and nurses, especially in a disease state that has seen significant advances over the past few years. The program’s format will provide the audience with an opportunity to interact with their peers and share personal cases with the faculty during several question-and-answer sessions. Day 1 of the program will focus on topics such as breast cancer assessment and management, supportive care strategies for CINV, GI cancer, and gynecologic cancers. Day-2 of the conference will discuss topics including, leukemia and lymphoma, multiple myeloma/MDS, and pain management strategies. The content has been structured around the application of the latest data into patient care, fulfilling a major educational need in today’s oncology landscape.
Attendees will be served breakfast and lunch on both days. Each discussion will be followed by a questions-and-answer session, during which attendees are welcome to discuss individual experiences and issues.
